In our office, we do quite a bit of oral surgery. The benefit of oral surgery is lots of times, you know, patients come in and they’ve had trauma or it’s been a few years since they’ve had any, you know, dental care and there’s some possible neglect or things that are causing pain.
And oral surgery is a way for us to, you know, get in there and immediately solve some of these problems, whether that be extracting teeth that are broken and causing pain or causing infections, whether that be, you know, getting patients in and replacing missing teeth with implants or other procedures like that. Oral surgery gives us the ability to get in and make immediate changes and improve patients’ oral health.

Fix Your Dental Problems for Pain-Free Living
Oral surgery can and does solve many dental issues to give you a healthier, more functional smile. Modern techniques make procedures comfortable and efficient. Your dentist offers several surgical services that will save you a trip to an outside oral surgeon:
- Tooth Extractions – Remove severely damaged or impacted teeth when root canals aren’t an option. Extractions prevent infection and make room for replacement teeth.
- Bone Grafts – Your dentist will add bone tissue to areas of your jaw with deterioration or defects. Grafts provide a strong foundation for you to receive dental implants.
- Sinus Lifts – We place more bone in the upper jaw near the sinuses. This makes dental implants possible where bone was too thin before.
- Crown Lengthening – Excess gum tissue can be removed to expose more of your natural tooth. This procedure can make your smile look less “gummy.”
- Dental Implant Placements – Your dentist puts implants into your jawbone to act as artificial tooth roots. Implants support your replacement teeth and offer a feel and function similar to natural teeth. We use computer-guided technology for more precise placements.
Don’t let anxiety hold you back. Sedation is available to keep you completely relaxed during your surgical procedure. Our team will ensure you feel no pain.

There are many reasons you may need an oral surgery procedure. One of the most common is to remove teeth, whether you need to make room for dentures or another restoration or to avoid future dental problems. If you are getting implants, you may need a procedure such as a bone graft or sinus lift to ensure your jaw is strong enough to support them.
For the first 24 hours after your oral surgery, you should not exercise at all. Doing too much too fast can actually create problems and prolong healing. Overexertion can loosen the blood clot from an extraction site and cause a painful condition known as dry socket. After the first 24 hours, limit your exercise to low-impact activities for several more days.
It’s best to stick to soft foods for a few days following an extraction. Good choices include eggs, pudding, yogurt, and similar foods. Avoid temperature extremes, acidic foods, spicy foods, and sugary and/or acidic beverages. Stick with water, milk, and unsweetened tea. You should also avoid drinking through a straw since it can damage your extraction site.
